For bowling newcomers or those who wish to raise their scores from a baseline casual/recreational level, the Brunswick Slingshot is a strong "entry-level performance" ball -- and a bargain, to boot. It is well-suited to lower-to-mid-range-level league bowlers, as well, being controllable, having good length and possessing a solid, angular finish. It also comes in a wide range of weights. (I since have upgraded to a mid-to-high-range performance ball, but I shot numerous 200-plus games with the Slingshot during a period of several months -- including a 265.)
